This teaching hospital, located an hour from Hartford and an hour and half from New York City, has 342 beds. It is a level II trauma center, Joint Commission-certified Stroke Center, American College of Surgeons-accredited Bariatric Center, Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Joint Replacement Center, National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers-accredited Breast Health Center, and Primary Angioplasty Center. This facility is also home to a level IIIB NICU that is equipped to care for severely ill, underweight, or otherwise at-risk neonates. This facility was rated “high performing” by the U.S. News and World Report for its treatment of COPD, heart failure, and hip replacements.
